Accounting and Finance Movies or Shows

Are you feeling blue and in the mood to watch a movie to relax? There are a number of movies and TV shows that feature accounting or finance as a central theme or plot element. Here are a few examples: 

"The Accountant" (2016) is a action thriller film starring Ben Affleck as a highly skilled accountant who works for criminal organizations.

"Breaking Bad" (2008-2013) is a popular TV series in which the main character, Walter White, becomes a methamphetamine manufacturer and distributor in order to secure his family's financial future after he is diagnosed with cancer. The show features several scenes in which White, a former high school chemistry teacher, uses his knowledge of chemistry and business to manage the financial aspects of his criminal enterprise.

"Joy" (2015) is a biographical drama film about Joy Mangano, a self-made millionaire who invented the "Miracle Mop" and became a successful entrepreneur. The film follows Joy as she navigates the business world and deals with financial challenges.

"The Wolf of Wall Street" (2013) is a biographical black comedy film based on the life of Jordan Belfort, a stockbroker who was involved in securities fraud and money laundering. The film focuses on Belfort's lavish lifestyle and the financial crimes he committed.

"Boiler Room" (2000) is a drama film about a young man who becomes a stockbroker and becomes involved in a fraudulent scheme. The film explores themes of greed, corruption, and the dark side of the financial industry.

"Suits" - This popular TV series follows the lives of high-powered lawyers at a top New York law firm. One of the main characters, Louis Litt, is a skilled accountant who uses his financial expertise to help the firm's lawyers win cases.

"Smart Money" - This is a 1931 film that explores the world of high finance and insider trading. It follows the story of a stockbroker who enlists the help of his accountant to try and outsmart the market.

"Billions" (2016-present) - This TV show is a fictional drama about the world of high finance and the power struggles between a hedge fund manager and a U.S. Attorney

"American Greed" - First aired in 2007, the host sheds light on some of the biggest white collar crimes committed in the USA and also takes a look at the menace of common financial crimes affecting the average American citizen.

"All the Queen's Horses" - tells the story of Rita Crundwell as self, the perpetrator of the largest case of municipal fraud in American history. How could one woman steal $53 million without anyone noticing?

"Margin Call" - is a 2011 American drama film written and directed by J. C. Chandor in his feature directorial debut. The principal story takes place over a 24-hour period at a large Wall Street investment bank during the initial stages of the financial crisis of 2007–2008.

"The Big Short" - In the mid-2000s, a few finance experts observe the instability in the US housing market and predict its collapse. Through their research, they discover the flaws and corruption in the system.

"Wizard of Lies" - Bernie Madoff, an American stockbroker and investment adviser, finds himself in a world of trouble when his fraudulent ways catch up to him.
