As we know climate change disproportionately affects food-insecure regions, jeopardizing crop and livestock production and fisheries. Exposure to more frequent and intense climate extremes is undermining all dimensions of food security, threatening to erode and reverse gains made in ending hunger and malnutrition. Climate-related hazards, be it drought, flooding or temperature rises aggravate existing stressors, such as, soil degradation, excessive water extraction and/or forest loss with negative outcomes for livelihoods, especially for people living in poverty. This is affecting all regions.
Collective action is needed, bringing together the knowledge and expertise of a multitude of groups. SNV actively works towards the transformation of food, energy and water systems to deliver climate smart solutions at scale. Building upon our considerable expertise in stimulating private sector development in agriculture and renewable energy, we are applying this to the area of climate change adaptation and mitigation, creating shared value for the companies, society and the environment.
The Climate Change Analysis Consultant supports the team in better understanding the impact of climate change and associated social vulnerabilities, including bringing expertise in landscape approaches, deforestation free value chains, and expertise on potential synergies between climate vulnerability and livelihood approaches.
